Art School - LIFE DRAWING Y1, T1

Now, I thought the world was ending with General Drawing in the first couple of weeks, should have seen me after Life drawing (just to get you all up to date, I do General Drawing on a Tuesday AM, and Life Drawing in the PM - now you can understand when I say, "I have drawing nightmares on Tuesday nights;)" ).

MMMMM my very first drawing - ahhhh I still have nightmares about that day, I just wanted to crumble. For goodness sake, they are only curves, how hard can it be - after all I seem to do ok in clay. Hopefully that first picture will never go anyfurther than, that day, Yve (my teacher) and I. I think I am still traumatised by it - can't see myself recovering any times soon.

Since that first day I have been drawing like crazy at home.... I would like to be able to say, I think I am annoying the hell out of Mark, asking him to model for me constantly, but silently, I think he really enjoys it.....gives him the opportunity to sit for hours, and usually with a book or a glass of wine, and saying that there was actually a glass of wine in his left hand, - FEED HIM GOOD WINE....anything to get him to sit.

As frustrated as I seem to get at times with life drawing I actually really enjoy it, especially when we get to work on a project for a full session, or even better over several sessions. At the moment I find it a little difficult to turn off the structural aspect of Lisa when it comes to paper and sharp pointy objects, ie. charcoal, graphite or pen - and move with cures, soft lines and GENTLE SHADING........a l l i n g o o d t i m e!

As you can see we are gradually moving into some shading, looking for tones, light and contrast - keeps the brain active....I'm sure.
